"What will the Yankees be like in the 70's? Who are the stars of tomorrow? The answers can be found in the Yankee farm system. With Syracuse and Binghamton are young players who may soon take the field at Yankee Stadium. With Kinston, Ft. Lauderdale and Oneonta, other promising players are getting their minor league experience under the guidance of top-notch managers. And with Johnson City, rookies who only yesterday were Babe Ruth and American Legion stars are getting the chance they dreamed of - to work their way up through the Yankee farm system.
The path to the majors isn't easy. Even Mickey Mantle had to start where every rookie starts. But the goal - the honor of being a Yankee - makes it worthwhile. It gives young players the desire they need to realize their full potential.
Any young prospect who is approached by a Yankee scout can be sure of this: he has the potential to become a Yankee. The youngster who joins the Yankee organization will get all the help he needs from great coaches and managers to develop that potential. He can be sure that his progress is not being overlooked and that he will be brought up to the majors as soon as he is ready. Lee MacPhail, Executive Vice-President and General Manager, and Johnny Johnson, Vice-President, Minor League Operations, along with a talent-laden staff of scouts, coaches, minor league managers and instructors, will see to that."
